Getting Started

How do I search or browse events?

Use the menu bar at the top of the site. Experiences shows you all upcoming events, and Calendar sorts them by date.

How do I contact a host?

Currently Kinza acts as a mediator between the host and the guests. Please email your questions or communication for the host to team@kinza.life. We plan to introduce the communicate with your host feature in the near future.

How do I invite someone to an event?

You can share an event on social media using the buttons on an event page!

How do I write a review?

After you attend a Kinza event, you will receive an email requesting that you leave a review for your host.

How do I book an event?

Once you’ve chosen the event you’d like to attend, select a date and time on the event page, modify the number of guests you’re paying for, then click “Add to Cart.” Once you’re finished selecting events, you can check out and pay.

Why won’t my transaction go through?

Is there a cost to being a Kinza host?

Hosting on Kinza is not only free, it’s a great way to earn extra income (and make friends while doing it!)

Can I refer other hosts?

If someone you know would make a great Kinza host, tell them to apply here!

How many events can I have? Can I host more than one event in a day?

You’re welcome to host as many events as you’d like. If you decide to host more than one event in a day, please make sure to include enough buffer time in between events.

How do I schedule an event?

We’ll make all the arrangements with you after you apply to host!

How far in advance should I schedule my events?

By submitting your events at least 2 weeks in advance, this gives enough time for guests to learn about and book.

What should I include in my before and after event message?

Before your event, let your guests know you’re looking forward to welcoming them, and remind them of the following details: address, directions, parking, your beverage policy, and your phone number in case they get lost or have last minute questions.

After your event, thank your guests for attending and request they leave you a review so you can continue to offer the best hosting experience. And invite them to try Kinza again!

What is the host cancellation policy?

All Reservations are subject to Kinza’s cancellation policy, as stated below:

• If a Reservation is cancelled by a Guest at least 48 hours prior to the applicable Food Event date, the Host shall not be paid any of the Reservation Amount and the Guest shall be reimbursed the full Reservation Amount net any commissions and fees paid by Kinza (e.g. PayPal fees).

• If a Reservation is cancelled by a Guest between 24 and 48 hours prior to the applicable Food Event date, the Host shall be paid 50% of the Reservation Amount and the remainder shall be returned to the Guest net any commissions and fees paid by Kinza.

• If a Reservation is cancelled by a Guest less than 24 hours before the applicable Food Event, the the Guest shall not be entitled to any return, credit or reimbursement.

Your Reservation shall be deemed canceled only upon receipt of Kinza confirmation of your cancellation. The Company reserves the right to cancel a Reservation at any time upon returning full refund of Reservation Amount to the Guest.

• In case a Host cancels Guest’s Reservation to participate in a Food Event, Company will credit Guest with the full Reservation Amount such Guest has paid to Kinza. Company reserves the right to charge the canceling Host with the Reservation Fees collected.

Kinza shall not bear any liability for any cost, expense, loss or damage that you may suffer or incur as a result of Host’s or Guest’s cancellation of a Reservation of Food Event.

• Hosts reserve the right to cancel a dinner if at least 2/3 of the available spots have not been filled. If this was to happen, you can either reserve a spot for another dinner at no cost or your money will be refunded in full.

• Additionally, Kinza reserves the right to charge back from Hosts the Reservation Amount they received for organizing certain Food Event if upon the receipt of a complaint by a Guest with respect to such Food Event, it believes, at its sole discretion, that such Food Event was not compatible with Kinza standards of service or in case of any misconduct of the Host.

What does "Kinza" mean?

The word Kinza is understood in a few different languages: "cilantro" in Russian, "gold coin" in Japanese and "Hidden treasure" in Arabic. Kinza the platform is also about recognizing different cultures, and meaning something to many people!

What is Kinza and how does it work?

Kinza is an online platform for locals to connect over small-group dinners. Hosts invite you into their homes to savour supper and swap stores.

Start by choosing an event to attend. You’re introduced to your host when you reserve your spot and receive a calendar invite with the exact location of the dinner. On the day of the dinner, come join your host and other interesting locals for great food and even better conversations.

How do I bring Kinza to my city?

Bring Kinza to your city by referring new hosts. If you or someone you know would make a great Kinza host, apply here!

How do I book an event?

Find an event that you like and a date and time that works for you using our calendar or events page.

Within 12 hours of payment processing, you will receive an email with details, the host's address and a calendar invite.

How do hosts and guests communicate before the event?

Manage Bookings

What is the guest cancellation policy?

All Reservations are subject to Kinza’s cancellation policy, as stated below:

• If a Reservation is cancelled by a Guest at least 48 hours prior to the applicable Food Event date, the Host shall not be paid any of the Reservation Amount and the Guest shall be reimbursed the full Reservation Amount net any commissions and fees paid by Kinza (e.g. PayPal fees).

Where can I find the event address?

The general vicinity and a nearby major intersection is listed on each event page. However, to protect the privacy of hosts, the event address will be shared with you after booking.

I have a dietary restriction or food allergy. How do I let the host know?

If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, please contact us before booking so we can check if your host can accommodate your request.

Do I need to leave a tip?

Event prices are all-inclusive and set by the host. Show your appreciation by leaving your host a nice review!

How do I book an event?

Both guest and host safety is of utmost importance to us.

Kinza hosts are carefully selected to ensure that events are enjoyable, comfortable and safe. They have been thoroughly vetted and approved. As part of host onboarding, we interview them, review their home and the food and drink they plan to offer.

Are my transactions and correspondence safe?

Kinza is committed keeping guests and hosts confident and safe at each stage of the booking and attending process. Payments are handled by the Shopify platform which keeps your transactions fully secure.
